It's been a busy week for Kodiak Building Partners. The 28th-largest company on the ProSales 100 list today announced it acquired Barnsco, a Dallas-based fabricator and distributor of rebar and concrete accessories that serves commercial construction and road building markets in North Central Texas and Southeastern Michigan.

On Aug. 11, Kodiak announced it acquired AO Inc., a commercial door distributor and fabricator also based in Dallas. Earlier this year in April, the company acquired the assets of Factory Builder Store, a distributor of cabinets and appliances based in Houston, and in July, 2012, Kodiak bought Gulf & Basco, another Houston distributor.

Houston and Dallas represent the first- and second-busiest markets on sister publication BUILDER's 2013 Local Leaders list

“This acquisition marks another step in the growth of Kodiak and our growth in the Texas market," said Paul Hylbert, Kodiak chairman and CEO. "With Gulf & Basco, Factory Builder Stores, AO Door and now Barnsco serving all the major markets, we’re continuing to invest in one of the fastest growing states in the country."

“We are very excited about joining forces with the Barnsco team," said Kodiak president and COO Steve Swinney. "Combined with Barton Supply, Kodiak’s first acquisition over three years ago, we now boast a diverse footprint for steel fabrication and distribution in Texas, Colorado and Michigan and expect to continue expansion in the steel platform in the months and years to come.”
